Pair of Six panel byobu (folding screen) depicting teathered hunting hawks on their roosts.  Beautiful Edo paintings that were recently remounted.   Takagari (鷹狩)- falconry was a favored pastime of the upper echelons of the samurai class from before the Edo period.  The fierce and noble birds reflected the values of the samurai class.  Favorite birds were often immortalized in paintings, either as scrolls or screens like these.
