Hand sewn yogi 夜着 (large kimono-shaped quilt used during the Edo and Meiji era). Kaimaki 掻巻 (sleeved quilt).  This piece is the outer shell, the interior and batting have been removed. The imagery of tied strips of Wakame or Abalone is the motif noshi, meant to offer good luck and was a traditional gift at weddings.
