Japanese Lacquer Craftsman's Work Box
Antique Japanese Lacquer Worker's Work Box. The surface of the box is covered in dripped and wiped lacquer from use in the lacquer craftsman's work shop. The tansu is Meiji era which appears to be used until recently. The top of the box was used as a mixing area and the drips on the sides were left to harden creating a beautiful cascade of lacquer.
