Artist: 松村 呉春 - Matsumura Goshun (1752-1811)
Matsumura Goshun was a painter of the mid-Edo period. He was the founder of the Shijo school 四条派. His real name was Matsumura Toyomasa 松村 豊昌, but he also used the names Yuho 裕甫, later Hakubo 伯望, and his common names were Bunzo 文蔵 and Kazaemon 嘉左衛門. Besides Goshun 呉春, his other pseudonyms included Gekkei 月溪, Katen 可転, Inpaku 允白, Son’inpaku 存允白, Sonseki 孫石, and his house names included Hyakushodo 百昌堂 and Shoutei 蕉雨亭.
Goshun's early art name, Matsumura Gekkei 松村 月渓, is also widely known. He was a Japanese painter of the Edo period and founder of the Shijo school of painting. He was a disciple of the painter and poet Yosa Buson与謝 蕪村 (1716–1784), a master of Japanese southern school painting.
